Walter chrysler had made a name for himself in railroad industry long before he had anything to do automobiles. Always a fan of the newly created gadget the new that they would be the way of the future. Starting his career in 1911 as the works manager for the buick motor company he was handpicked by james storrow for the position. By not only being able to cut cost and improve production times he made a name for himself very quickly. This 1926 chrysler is a great example of his first year run of vehicles. Really just a rebadged maxwell it started and lived its entire life in the dry warm climate of arizona. All of the panels are original to the car and appear to be in great condition. The black paint shines nicely while the vinyl roof is in excellent shape. The rear spare is concealed inside the white chrysler cover and appears to be period correct. The doors fit great and close up nice and tight giving the car a solid feel. Swing open either side of the louvered hood and the original straight 4 cylinder sits nicely in the middle. Hooked up to the standard 3 speed transmission this 26 runs like a champ. Open the door to reveal a nicely done interior. The front bench is nice and comfortable with plenty of life left in the springs. The rear bench shares the same quality with the addition of a collapsible foot rest which was originally designed to keep muddy boots off the carpet. This is a tremendously well preserved piece of automobile history that is sure to make any collector very happy. Options on this 1926 chrysler sedan include ; cloth interior & bias ply tires.
